    STUDENT SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
    TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIPS INFORMATION

The regular travel scholarships application process for the 2010 SACNAS National Conference closed on April 30, 2010. However SACNAS provides a summer travel scholarship application process specifically for students participating in summer research programs. The summer program director’s involvement is crucial in the summer travel scholarship system process. Funding for summer research program participants to attend the SACNAS conference is not guaranteed and is determined based on availability of funds.

*There is a limited amount of travel scholarship awards for postdocs and pre-college teachers still available. Interested postdocs and/or teachers should contact Perla Miranda before July 9th.

Summer Program Enrollment System Opens: May 17, 2010
Summer Travel Scholarships Application Deadline: July 9, 2010 (11:59 p.m. Pacific)

The summer travel scholarship process is different from the regular application process; it is a process requiring the summer program director’s involvement:

First: Summer Program Enrollment – Summer program directors are required to enroll their program and its student participants in the SACNAS summer travel scholarship/abstracts system (see the Summer Program Enrollment PDF below).
Summer Program Enrollment System Opens: May 17, 2010

Second: Submit Student emails into the SACNAS System – Once the summer program director has enrolled the summer programthey will need to submit students’ information and emails in the SACNAS system. Students will then receive an automated email with the program's unique access code and inviting them to begin the travel scholarship application process.

Third: Manage Summer Program – Through the management system program directors will be able to: add student emails, view which if your students have applied for summer travel scholarships, check the status of students’ application materials, and/or send automated reminder emails to students who have not applied or are missing materials. Summer Travel Scholarships Student Application Deadline: July 9, 2010 (11:59 p.m. Pacific)

Summer travel scholarship applicants will receive notification of their application status by August. Upon receipt of award notification, students must complete and submit the E-Contract immediately to confirm/complete the award. Failure to submit the E-Contract by the designated deadline will result in travel scholarship award cancellation.
