About SACNAS
SACNAS Science Policy

SACNAS has affirmed in its most recent strategic plan that it is through a combination of direct service and science policy work that the organization can have the greatest impact.

Program Overview
The purpose of SACNAS’ policy work is to inform and advocate for public policies and governmental funding that advance our mission: fostering the success of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists—from college students to professionals.

In particular, SACNAS’ policy initiative focuses on:
  1. increasing resources that support our mission and goals to advance Hispanics/Chicanos and Native Americans in science
  2. reducing barriers to accessing already existing resources
  3. establishing practices that support equity of access for Hispanics/Chicanos and Native Americans and other underrepresented minorities
