SACNAS Green Initiative
Being a society of scientists, our members have a natural curiosity about our commitment to the environment. For years, SACNAS has been minimizing our impact through our national conference and year-round green practices. We consciously reduce, reuse, and recycle, which includes printing on, purchasing, and using recycled materials and eco-friendly products and supporting local vendors who engage in eco-friendly practices whenever possible.
In 2008, we expanded our commitment to become one of the first scientific organizations to implement a 100% carbon neutral national conference. Through our partnership with NativeEnergy, SACNAS has been reducing our carbon footprint significantly by contributing a portion of every conference registration to off-set the short tons of CO2 associated with our event.
To date, SACNAS has contributed $82,140 to NativeEnergy to support its sustainable energy projects, like the Greensburg Wind Farm Project. We invite you to join us in our efforts to reduce our impact on the environment.
Whether you’re a student presenting research & connecting with mentors or a professional giving back to the next generation, membership means taking part in something greater than yourself. With SACNAS, you're part of a community of scientists; you belong.
