The OHSU DMICE Summer Undergraduate Research Program provides paid internship opportunities for students to work intensively with faculty on research projects for ten weeks during the summer. The program's goals are to introduce students to research projects in Biomedical Informatics, facilitate interactions with DMICE faculty, and to increase awareness among undergraduates about this exciting field. Students will be able to present their research projects at the end of the program in a mini symposium.

Through grant development skills and knowledge of the faculty participants, the PCBP is intended to strengthen the capacity of HSIs to secure and retain funding for biomedical and health services research. Through grants administration training of entry-level faculty and Office of Sponsored Programs and Research staff participants, the PCBP is also intended to provide institutions with more information about post-award management and institutional compliance.

The Colorado AGEP Postdoctoral Fellowship Program offers postdoctoral training to recent PhD recipients in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. The Opening Ceremony commences at 10 AM on Thursday, April 3 and the Symposium adjourns around 11 AM on Sunday, April 6.

The New Generation Polar Research Symposium will be held May 4-11, 2008, at the La Foret Conference Center in Colorado Springs, CO, USA. It will bring together thirty-six advanced graduate students and recent Ph.D. graduates who are or will be conducting independent research during the 2007–2009 IPY, current polar experts, and veteran polar scientists who were actively engaged in the 1957–1958 IGY.

The 2nd Annual Conference on Understanding Interventions That Encourage Minorities to Pursue Research Careers will be held at the Atlanta Hilton on May 2-4 2008. Registration for the conference, supported through a MARC project grant from NIGMS, is now open. The website dedicated to the conference http://www.understandinginterventions.org/ will be valuable for gleaning information on the conference, as well as the original NAS Workshop of May 2007, and related activities.
