The SACNAS Genome Scholars Program, awarded from 2003-2007, supported underrepresented minority graduate students to take part in genomics opportunities and advance their careers in genomics, bioinformatics, and related fields. Activities included participation in SACNAS annual conferences, specialized genomics sessions and networking opportunities, travel to genomics conferences, research presentations, and the 2008 SACNAS MIT Broad Genome Scholars Technical Training Workshop. In addition, scholars received $25,000 for one year of support for their graduate school expenses.
