This position involves responsibility for managing a significant fraction of the research programs of NASA's Earth Science Division in the areas of Modeling, Analysis, and Prediction (MAP). The research area emphasizes the development, evaluation, and use of global models for the Earths environment, with a particular NASA focus on the use of space-based remote sensing observations for initialization, process representation, and evaluation, as well as the development and application of data assimilation and reanalysis activities that produce data sets for use by the scientific community. The manager will develop solicitations for research in the areas covered by the MAP program, lead the evaluation of proposals, and monitor the performance of researchers who are selected, serve as program scientist for NASA satellite missions that may be in formulation/pre-formulation, development, and operation, interact closely with the research community in his/her area of purview, and assure interagency and international coordination of the program with those of other entities.
