Your Safety is Our Priority

Your health and safety are our top priority. The 2023 National Diversity in STEM (NDiSTEM) Conference will be held in-person, and we are continuously evaluating conditions and policies to ensure a safe environment for all participants traveling to Portland Oregon.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, local conditions and safety guidelines are constantly evolving. We are closely monitoring the current federal and local COVID-19 guidelines for in-person gatherings and travel restrictions to be up to date on any changes between now and October 2023. Event COVID-19 Policy  

Event guidance is based on information provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and current travel guidelines from local authorities. 

COVID-19 Vaccinations 

We ask that all event participants (attendees, exhibitors, vendors, and speakers) be fully vaccinated and boosted by the event start date (CDC Vaccination Guidance). Our greatest concern is the health and safety of our staff, conference participants, and attendees. Please take personal responsibility for your health and safety and in turn, protect the health and safety of others around you.

Face Coverings 

Masks are encouraged at all NDiSTEM events. (CDC Mask Information

Health and Safety Signage  

Signage will be placed throughout the venue to remind all participants to frequently wash and sanitize their hands and to follow recommended face covering practices.  

Screening Event

Participants will be asked to participate in daily self-screening before attending a SACNAS event. We ask that you not enter the Convention Center or any NDiSTEM event if you are  experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or have had close contact with a person who has COVID-19:

  • Feeling feverish or having a temperature of 100°F or higher
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills or repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain or body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue
