SACNAS Executive Director
Dr. Stephania A. Herrera serves SACNAS as Executive Director. She was previously president of SAH & Associates, Inc. and a past Affiliate Faculty member at the Metropolitan State University of Denver College of Business.
She co-authored the book Hispanic Entrepreneurship Training Program Colleges: Universities and Hispanic Chambers of Commerce Working to Fast Track Hispanics into Business.
Dr. Herrera brings more than 25 years of strategic business development experience in nonprofits and membership organizations, as well as a lifetime of experience and passion for education and leadership development. She was the Founding Executive Director of the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) Foundation.
As the former Chief Operations Officer of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, she helped strengthen its overall operations, and allowed the organization to have a greater impact in Hispanic communities across the United States.
Dr. Herrera was Executive Director of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), and oversaw large-scale professional development conferences of over 2000 sustainability professionals from across the globe. The 2014 annual conference was the largest in AASHE’s history. Dr. Herrera also served as keynote speaker at the International Symposium for the Establishment of Sustainable Campuses at Kyoto University in Kyoto, Japan.
As the Foundation Director of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Foundation, Dr. Herrera increased the number of members and chapters across the U.S. and developed numerous educational programs, orientations and leadership training. She created evaluations for members that exposed them to advocacy, STEM, higher education, and economic development principles that enhance their business acumen and leadership potential. founded and served as president and CEO of the United States Hispanic Jr Chamber of Commerce.
Herrera received the 2002 Minority Small Business Advocate of the Year award from the U.S. Small Business Administration in Colorado, and was twice recognized by the United States Congressional Record for her leadership in the community.
Herrera holds a BA in International Business Management, an MBA in Market Strategy from Regis University and a DBA in Business Administration.
