2015 SACNAS

Washington DC | October 29 - 31, 2015

In 2015, 3,700+ participants attended the 2015 SACNAS conference in Washington D.C. With the conference theme of “Interdisciplinary Collaboration: The Role of Diversity in STEM Innovation”, the conference opened with Keynote Speaker United States Secretary of Energy Dr. Ernest Moniz. The program would continue with 3 additional keynote speakers, 7 featured speakers, and a panel on Women in STEM & Insights to Success moderated by Dr. Talithia Williams. Over the course of the three days, the program included 107 breakout sessions covering professional development, scientific symposia, and leadership development, and SACNAS’ hallmark networking event, Conversations with Scientists. The Graduate School & Career Expo Hall welcomed 309 exhibit booths with representation from Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, United States Department of Agriculture, and many others. The program closed with a traditional Pow Wow celebration, and student research presentation awards. Over the course of the 3 days, 865 students had shared their research via a poster or an oral presentation. By the final day of the conference, 102 of those students received awards for outstanding presentations. Many of those students were presenting their research at a national conference for the first time.
