I am not Chicano/Hispanic or Native American. Can I be a SACNAS member?
YES!! Our name is a testament to our founding during the Chicano and American Indian civil rights movements. Everyone is welcome to become a SACNAS member, regardless of gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, race, national origin or ancestry, ethnicity, or religion (including the lack thereof or religious dress and grooming).
Why should I become a member? / How much does membership cost?
At SACNAS, diversity, equity, and inclusion are not abstract concepts or buzz words. They are values and the heartbeat of our programs. They are part of our DNA. We create space where STEM students and professionals from historically underrepresented populations can feel like they belong, can embrace their intersectional identities, and be empowered to bring their whole selves to STEM.
How can I gift or sponsor a membership for someone other than myself?

What does "SACNISTA" mean?
“SACNISTA” is a term we use to refer to our members. It comes from adding “-ista” to the organization’s name “SACNAS”. Adding this suffix indicates that SACNISTAs (or members) are people who share SACNAS’ values and passion for diversity, inclusion, and equity in STEM. SACNISTAs bring their full authentic selves to our community to inspire and support one another. Anyone can be a SACNISTA— just click below to join us as a member!
