SACNAS receives President's Award from Travel Portland

SACNAS is thrilled to share that we have been honored with a Presidential Award from Travel Portland in recognition of our  efforts at the 2023 National Diversity in STEM Conference, NDiSTEM. This accolade serves as a testament to our commitment to advancing the representation and success of underrepresented individuals in the fields of STEM.

The esteemed award from Travel Portland not only highlights the impact of our work but also reinforces the importance of fostering diversity and inclusivity within STEM fields. We are truly grateful for this recognition and remain dedicated to our mission of supporting underrepresented communities in achieving their academic and professional goals in STEM.

Travel Portland recognized the impact of #2023NDiSTEM by stating, "Every once in a while, we are fortunate to host a group that plans its conventions so well that they not only organize events for their constituents, but they fully integrate into the community and engage locals to invite broader participation and truly demonstrate the inclusivity they champion. This organization [SACNAS] hosted an indigenous marketplace featuring locally made art and opened it to the public. They conducted outreach to establish local partnerships, sponsorships and support to ensure a positive, accessible and affordable experience for their membership". The award was accepted on SACNAS' behalf by Executive Director - Juan Amador.
